Banged-Up Cabrera In Tigers' Lineup Against Twins

DETROIT (AP) — Miguel Cabrera feels healthy enough to stay in the lineup, giving the Detroit Tigers a big sense of relief.

The Tigers have Cabrera batting third and playing his usual spot at third base Wednesday night against the Minnesota Twins.

Cabrera aggravated a strain in his groin, abdominal and hip area when he swung and missed on a pitch Tuesday night. He walked off the field gingerly after his game-ending strikeout in a 6-3 loss to Minnesota.

Tigers athletic trainer Kevin Rand says Cabrera was feeling much better Wednesday afternoon than he did Tuesday night.

The reigning Triple Crown winner has been playing through a series of injuries lately, including a banged-up left knee and shin. Cabrera leads the majors in batting average (.359) and RBIs (120), and his 40 homers trail only Baltimore's Chris Davis (45).
