McLeod Bethel-Thompson Aims To Stick Around

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- At the QB for the Vikings, Christian Ponder is the starter, Matt Cassell is the back-up, and then there's McLeod Bethel-Thompson.

He got a look last week in the preseason game against Buffalo, and he's aiming to make an impression that keeps him in the league.

"It was fun – I think the whole third team was really vibing and playing well out there," he said.

He observes Ponder.

"Every rep he takes, you try to take a mental rep yourself," Bethel-Thompson said. "When he makes mistake I try to learn as well."

And he's paying attention to what Cassell does and says.

"He's been in the league for so many years," he said.

Playing well doesn't guarantee himself a spot with the Vikings but playing well on a regular basis, that does give him a chance to make it in the NFL somewhere and anywhere.

"You really try to control what you can control, he said. "And that's my work on the field and in the classroom."
