MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Authorities are investigating what caused a fire at a Burnsville townhome that left a few residents with minor injuries.

The Burnsville Fire Department was called around 6:07 a.m. Sunday to the six-plex unit at 231 Birnamwood Drive where heavy fire was spotted around the middle units.

Burnsville called for assistance from Bloomington, Savage and Allina ambulance and fire fighters were able to get the fire under control in about 30 minutes.

A few people suffered minor injuries during the fire but no firefighters were injured.

It’s not clear how many people lived in the unit where the fire began but it is considered a total loss.

The two units on either side of the fire sustained minor damage, though the occupants have been displaced.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
