For The 8th Time, Wadena's Cozy Theater Hosting Film Festival

WADENA, Minn. (AP) — A northern Minnesota movie theater is playing host to a film festival.

The Whiskey Creek Film Festival returns to the Cozy Theater in Wadena for its eighth year. The festival opened Friday and runs through next Thursday.

Director Jamie Robertson describes the festival's entries as current movies that otherwise wouldn't be shown outside the Twin Cities.

This year's program includes Woody Allen's new movie, "Blue Jasmine," and "Twenty Feet From Stardom," a documentary about backup singers.

For families, the festival has a free screening of "Standing Up," about a boy and a girl who are bullied at summer camp.

"The Girl From Birch Creek," a documentary about Rosalie Wahl, the first woman on the Minnesota Supreme Court, and six Minnesota-produced short films will be screened free.
