MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – One person died Monday morning in Meeker County when a car sideswiped a semi-tractor on Highway 12, the State Patrol says.

The crash happened just minutes after 7 a.m. east of County Road 6, near the city of Dassel. In it, a two-door Volkswagen crossed the center lines of Highway 12 and collided with the semi.

The name of the individual killed has not been released. It is also not known if he or she was in the Volkswagen or the semi-tractor. Information on this individual will be released Tuesday, the State Patrol said.

Fifty-year-old Bruce Resch, of Royalton, Minn., was a passenger in the semi; he suffered no injuries.

Dassel is about 50 miles west of the Twin Cities.
