MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Authorities are trying to determine the identity of a man whose body was recovered from the Apple River early Sunday afternoon, according to the St. Louuis County Sheriff’s Office.

At 12:31 p.m. Sunday, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a body in the Apple River just south of the Apple River Campground, which is located near Somerset, Wis. A group of kayakers noticed the body near some rocks and called it in, authorities said.

The body was recovered from the river and authorities believe the victim is a 50-year-old man from the area.

An autopsy was scheduled for Monday morning, which will determine a positive ID and cause of death.
