MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities said a 27-year-old Minneapolis man was shot to death inside a downtown nightclub early Sunday morning.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office released the victim’s name Tuesday morning. He was identified as Tyrone Washington Jr. of Brooklyn Park. Authorities said he died of a gunshot wound to the chest in a homicide.

Minneapolis Police were called to Epic Nightclub early Sunday morning on a report of a shooting inside the club. When authorities arrived, they found the victim’s body on the sidewalk outside the club. Investigators said the shooting happened inside the club. According to police, the victim and the shooter were yelling at each other when the gunman fired his weapon and then ran off.

Rapper Yo Gotti was performing at Epic Saturday night. The shooting happened an hour before the bar closed.

Police didn’t say if it was gang-related, but they are looking into it. The victim had an extensive criminal history, according to police. No suspects are in custody at this time, and anyone with information should call Minneapolis Police at (612) 692-8477.
