Duluth Bridge Closed After Erosion Discovered
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Part of Interstate 35 in downtown Duluth is closed Tuesday because of erosion on a bridge.
The deterioration is on a piling that supports a bridge on the southbound lanes of the Interstate. Those lanes will be closed for at least a week while repairs are made.
A Minnesota Department of Transportation engineer says the piling was so corroded you could see through it. It's one of 38 supports for that bridge.
The decay was discovered during an inspection.
