ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – A 16 year old is hospitalized after being shot in the abdomen by a 15-year-old friend, according to St. Paul Police.

The shooting happened right before 7 p.m. at a home in the 900 block of West Nebraska Avenue.

Police say the gun was accidentally discharged.

The victim was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital by the mother of the friend who fired the weapon, and was later transferred to Regions Hospital for surgery. The victim is expected to make a full recovery.

Police say everyone is cooperating, but the mother of the teen who fired the gun may be charged with negligent gun storage, depending on the outcome of the investigation.
