EDINA, Minn. (WCCO) – Authorities said they are investigating a fire that turned deadly in Edina on Monday.

Fire crews were called to the 6300 block of York Avenue at about 4 p.m.  Monday on reports of smoke and flames coming from the detached garage of an apartment building. When authorities arrived, they found a car inside the garage on fire.

While battling the fire, authorities had the vehicle towed out of the garage and found the body of an adult male in the front seat. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said the cause of the fire is still under investigation, and the identity of the victim has not been released.

Fire crews from Edina, Bloomington, Richfield and St. Louis Park all responded to the scene.
