The Wedge To Open Eat Street Location

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Fans of The Wedge co-op will have reason to celebrate, as plans to open another location in Minneapolis have been announced.

The 15,500-square-foot space will be the first phase of a multi-year expansion project for The Wedge.

"We are excited to join this vibrant neighborhood, which has been a Twin Cities dining destination for decades, and offer a unique food option," Wedge CEO Josh Resnik said. "This smaller format store will provide organic, local ingredients and serve as a fill-in grocery shopping spot and a friendly, neighborhood hangout."

The new location will be on the 2400 block of Nicollet Avenue South, also known as "Eat Street."

The market and café will be smaller in scale than the existing Lyndale Avenue store. But the Wedge's catering department will be moving from Lyndale over to Nicollet.

"This new building will help us better serve our members and will meet many of the requests we have been getting from shoppers for years," Resnik said.

The new location is scheduled to open later this year. After that store opens, the Lyndale store will undergo a major remodeling project.

The Wedge is also planning on opening a second full-service grocery store sometime in the future.
