MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minnesota hockey fans were prepared for a marquee match-up against No. 2-ranked Ferris State Saturday night, but the Gophers had to beat Colgate Friday to get there.

Michael Brodzinski and Travis Boyd scored goals for the Gophers, but Colgate battled them to a 2-2 overtime tie and came away with a 2-1 win over Minnesota in a shootout. Kyle Rau, who recorded an assist on Boyd’s goal, notched his 100th career point in the loss.

Adam Wilcox made 27 saves in net for Minnesota. The Gophers will face RPI at 7 p.m. Saturday.
