SARTELL, Minn. (WCCO) – One more name just entered the race for Minnesota’s 6th congressional district.

Sartell Mayor Joe Perske announced his intention to land the Democratic Farm Labor Party nomination for U.S. Congress.

Perske has served as the city’s mayor for three years. He was a member of the city council for the six years before that.

“This great nation cannot survive the collapse of its middle class,” Perske said. “As a representative of the 6th Congressional District, I would work with others to restore the middle class and provide families the opportunity to realize the American Dream. This is an issue that stokes a fire that burns inside me and drives me to run for Congress in this election.”

Last year, Rep. Michele Bachmann announced she would not be seeking reelection in the 6th district.
