1 Injured In Wheelchair-Vehicle Collision
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- One person is in the hospital after being struck by a vehicle while on a wheelchair in Coon Rapids Sunday night, according to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities say the incident was reported at 8:29 p.m. and occurred near 1349 Coon Rapids Boulevard Northwest.
Coon Rapids Police Sgt. Daren Keasling says the victim, an adult male, was traveling on a motorized wheelchair westbound on Coon Rapid Blvd. when he was struck by a vehicle traveling in the same direction. There is no sidewalk on that section of the road.
The man in the wheelchair was transported to Mercy Hospital and the extent of his injuries is not known at this point.
The driver of the vehicle was cooperative and alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the collision.
