Semi Driver Struck, Killed By Train In Grant County

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A semi-truck driver was killed after being struck by a train in Grant County Tuesday afternoon.

According to the county sheriff’s department, a Burlington Northern-Santa Fe train collided with the semi at 3rd Street in Herman, Minn.

The truck was carrying soybeans, and the intersection was just south of the elevator.

The impact was strong enough to separate the cabin from the trailer and push the former about 1,500 feet from the point of impact.

The driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 47-year-old Bradley Vold of Graceville, Minn.

The State Patrol is assisting in the investigation.
