DPS: Plan A Sober Ride For Super Bowl

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – If you're a football fan planning to be out drinking for the Super Bowl on Sunday, you'll want to make sure you have a sober ride.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety said there have been zero drunk driving deaths for the past five Super Bowls, and they want to keep it that way. Officials said extra patrols will be out on Sunday stepping up DWI enforcement across the state.

Authorities said there have been five six traffic deaths on the last five Super Bowl Sundays, but none has been alcohol-related. There have 995 arrests for DWI in Minnesota on the Super Bowl over the last five years.

Safety officials said there are an estimated 28,000 people arrested for DWI every year.
