Woman Hit By Truck In Minneapolis Dies
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities said the woman who was hit by a truck near Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis earlier this week has died.
Police responded to the incident at about 6:18 p.m. Wednesday near Market Plaza at West Lake Street. When authorities arrived, a female pedestrian was waiting at a red light there and started to cross the street when the light turned green. She was hit by a commercial vehicle turning right and suffered critical injuries after being dragged about 25 feet.
Authorities said she was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The woman died on Thursday. She was identified as 25-year-old Caitlan Christine Barton.
Police said the driver of the truck is cooperating fully with the investigation, and drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been a factor in the accident.
