Local Music Tap: Doomtree's P.O.S. Receives New Kidney

Local rapper P.O.S. is doing well and feels like a "new dude" after a recent kidney transplant, according to Doomtree's Lazerbeak.

About a year and half ago, P.O.S. – or Stefon Alexander – went public with his need for a new kidney. Now, he's scheduled to be released from the hospital in the "next day or two" and will continue bed rest at home for a while.

"There's still a long road to recovery ahead, but the great news for now is that the kidney is currently functioning the way it's supposed to and he's feeling better mentally/physically than he was before the surgery," Lazerbeak wrote.

Stef's donor, Mark Potter, is also doing very well.

"We've know(n) Mark forever (actually went to high school with the guy years back), and I do not know how to thank him enough for all that he's been able to do for Stef. Mark is already out of the hospital and resting up at home," Lazerbeak added.

Minneapolis-based Stef is the co-founder of the hip hop collective Doomtree.
