SPIDER LAKE, Wis. (WCCO) – A 56-year-old man from Hayward was killed in a snowmobile crash late Saturday evening.

According to the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened at about 10:30 p.m. on Spider Lake in the town of the same name.

Authorities responded to a call from a woman at Whiplash Resort. She told them Bryon Schroeder had crashed a snowmobile and was not breathing.

Rescue crews were dispatched to the site of the crash, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is still investigating the cause of the crash.
