Minnesota Zoo Introduces Baby Penguins To The Public

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minnesota Zoo has added new members to their family. Ten African penguins were hatched in the 3M Penguins of the African Coast exhibit in November and December of 2013.

The young penguins, four male and six female, were presented to the public Friday morning.

They're a huge achievement for the zoo.

In the wild the animals are endangered due to oil spills, historical hunting and habitat destruction.  Additionally, the animals now face food shortages due to climate change which has slowed the global population of the species.

The 10 chicks have been introduced to adults in the flock and all are getting along nicely.
