Minnesota Zoo Announces Summer Concerts

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Zoo has announced some of the acts included in its lineup of summer concerts, and the roster includes old favorites and new talents alike.

The Subway Music in the Zoo series opens June 2 with a concert by the Monkees, famed for their '60s TV sitcom and their string of hits including "Pleasant Valley Sunday," "Last Train to Clarksville," and "I'm a Believer."

The Monkees' Davy Jones passed away in 2012. The remaining three from the Prefab Four -- Micky Dolenz, Peter Tork, and Michael Nesmith -- will perform this summer.

Other acts who have been included in their series include the Indigo Girls, Rufus Wainwright, and Pat Benatar. Also included will be artists with Minnesota connections such as the Hold Steady, Brooklyn Rider, and the Okee Dokee Brothers.
