Trending Now: Stephen Colbert named new Late Night host

Hashtag: #ThatWasFast — one week after David Letterman announced his retirement, CBS names his replacement.

Details: Stephen Colbert will step down from his “Colbert Report” show on Comedy Central at the end of the year and will take over the late-night spot in 2015. President and Chief Executive Officer of CBS Leslie Moonves said Colbert is “one of the most inventive and respected forces on television.”

Letterman himself was quick to praise his replacement, releasing a statement which said, “Stephen has always been a real friend to me. I’m very excited for him and I’m flattered that CBS chose him. I also happen to know they wanted another guy with glasses.”
