ASPIRE Athlete Of The Week: April 18, 2014
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- She is a steady influence on her lacrosse team and in her school. That's why Giselle Rogers of Cretin-Derham Hall is our Aspire Athlete of the Week.
"I came in as a freshman, never playing before," she said. "I was no good at softball, so I tried playing lacrosse."
Rogers said she followed in the footsteps of her sister, who was also a lacrosse player.
"I like it, because it's a new sport," she said. "You can catch on, and there's always something new happening."
Rogers is a senior with poise and confidence, and she has that kind of presence a coach appreciates.
"She's always been a starter, since ninth grade," said her coach, Andrew Lecker. "She is a hard worker, she's motivated, she helps all of our players get better on and off the field."
Now a senior, Rogers says she will look back with fondness on her time with Cretin-Derham Hall.
"I've played four years of varsity sports: hockey and lacrosse. And that's been good," she said. "I've met the older kids, I've met the younger kids...it's just a good environment and community to grow up in."
