MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Highway 55 in Eagan, Minn. had to be closed for several hours Friday morning after a head-on collision killed one person and injured another, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Deputies responded to the crash just before 6 a.m. in the area of Highway 55 and Northland Drive in Eagan. Authorities said the westbound side of Highway 55 was closed at Lexington Avenue while officers investigated and assisted at the scene.

Authorities said the crash involved two vehicles, a 2005 Toyota Camry and a 2006 Ford Focus. The State Patrol said the Camry was headed eastbound on Highway 55 when it veered into the westbound lanes of traffic and hit the Focus head-on.
