Man Who Impersonated Cop Pleads Guilty To Fridley Sex Assault

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Brooklyn Center man is pleading guilty to first-degree criminal sexual conduct after he impersonated a police detective, abducted a woman and sexually assaulted her, according to the criminal complaint.

Gideon Charles Arrington, 36, posed as a detective on the afternoon of Nov. 23 and approached a woman on the street near the 6400 block of 5th Street NE in Fridley, according to the Anoka County Attorney's office.

After asking the victim general questions about the area, he threatened her, put her in handcuffs, placed her in his vehicle and then blindfolded her.

Arrington is then accused of driving the victim to a location where he sexually assaulted her several times. After the assaults, he used a bleach-type solution on the victim in an attempt to destroy DNA evidence.

Investigators matched DNA collected from the victim to Arrington, who was in the national database of convicted felons.

He could face up to 27 years in prison if convicted.
