Body Of Missing Fisherman Found In Winona

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Search crews have found the body of a missing 88-year-old Stockton man who fell out of a canoe while fishing Friday morning.

Winona County Sheriff Dave Brand says crews were dragging the river near Winona, when one of the drags caught the body of Robert Lester Duncanson on Saturday afternoon.

Duncanson was last seen near the Winona Spillway at Prairie Island Park. Witnesses say he was holding on to a tree branch after he fell out of the canoe, but the branch snapped before help arrived.

Fisherman Found Dead

"He was found about 50 feet from where he went in yesterday," Brand said.

He says the water is very high and is continuing to rise, making the current dangerous for boaters.
