MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – An 18-year-old man was killed and a 22-year-old woman seriously hurt in a one-car crash Tuesday in southern Minnesota, according to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities were called to the accident at about 12:42 p.m. on County Road 7, just north of Dodge Center, which is located just west of Rochester. When officers arrived, a car carrying two people had lost control, went into a ditch and hit a tree. The passenger in the car, identified as Guy Carlson, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, a 22-year-old woman, was airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester and there has been no update on her condition.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene with assistance from the Dodge Center Ambulance, Dodge Center Fire Department and Minnesota State Patrol among other agencies. What led up to the crash is under investigation.
