MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – On Wednesday, Minneapolis Police Chief Janee Harteau walked the beat on the north side, on Thursday, he biked on the south side.

She says there’s been concern in the Lake Street and Franklin Avenue areas about an increase in car and bike thefts.

She stopped to talk with business owners and residents.

“I want to reassure people that we care about the entire city,” she said, “and the entire city is being policed.”

It’s a return for Harteau to her old beat.

She used to be an officer in the 3rd Precinct back in the early ‘90s.
