MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Two people from Minnesota were killed Thursday afternoon in a crash near McPherson, Kan., according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The accident happened around 4 p.m. Thursday in the northbound lanes of Interstate 135 at milepost 63. Troopers say a white SUV was going northbound on I-135 when it changed lanes and was struck by a full-size SUV.

The full-size SUV crossed the median, ran into a ditch and caught fire. Passers-by were able to get the passenger out of the vehicle, but couldn’t get driver out. Both the driver and passenger died on the scene/

The Kansas Highway Patrol says 69-year-old Kay Pautz and 70-year-old Gary Pautz, both from Alexandria, Minn., died.
