Funeral Set For High School Football Player Who Drowned

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Funeral plans have been finalized for a high school football player who drowned this week.

Sha-kym Adams, 15, was swimming at Lake Nokomis on Wednesday with some teammates when he went under the water.

Before he drowned, he had spent the morning with a few of his teammates from South High School running and practicing for the upcoming football season.

They went swimming to cool off.

The funeral service will be Saturday, Aug. 16 at 10:30 a.m. at New Salem Baptist Church in Minneapolis.

His wake will be Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the church.

A memorial fund has been set up to help Adams’ family.
