MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two people were killed after a head-on collision in northern Minnesota Tuesday afternoon, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities were called to the crash at about 3:09 p.m. on Highway 11 at County Road 13 in Roseau County between the cities of Roseau and Warroad. When officers arrived, one vehicle was headed westbound on Highway 11 when it attempted to pass a vehicle on the two-lane highway and hit the other vehicle head-on in the oncoming lane. The crash caused both vehicles to start on fire.

The State Patrol said two people, both men, were pronounced dead at the scene. They have not been identified, and what led up to the crash is still under investigation.

The Minnesota State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Roseau County Sheriff’s Office and Roseau Police Department.
