Victims ID'd In Fatal Lac Qui Parle Co. Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Fog may have contributed to a fatal crash early Friday morning, according to the Lac Qui Parle County Sheriff's Office.

The accident occurred at about 4:52 a.m. at the intersection of county roads 25 and 2.

One of the drivers -- 45-year-old Robert James Coyle of Watertown, S.D. -- was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second driver -- 29-year-old Ryan Elliot Wade of Canby, Minn. -- was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson, Minn. with leg and rib injuries. He was released Friday afternoon.

According to the sheriff's office, Wade was travelling northbound on CR 23 when he was struck by Coyle, who had not stopped at a stop sign.

There were no other passengers involved.

The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting with the investigation.
