Sporting Goods Store Pledges $1M To MN College

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A Fargo-based sporting goods company has pledged a million dollars to Minnesota State University-Moorhead in exchange for the naming rights of its football field.

WDAY-TV reports Scheels All Sports has promised to donate the money in hopes of putting artificial turf on the Dragons' stadium.

Incoming university President Anne Blackhurst is running 50 laps around the school in honor of her first year.

Scheels' CEO Steve Scheel says he will donate $20,000 to the school for every lap Blackhurst completes up to 50.

Blackhurst herself is donating $1,000 to school scholarships for every lap she completes.

The university will rename its field to Scheels Field.
