Local Music Tap: The Replacements' Documentary Screening, Reunion Show

In what's being called "All Replacements' Eve," the special director's cut of the documentary on the legendary Minneapolis band is set to screen in mid-September – the day before The Replacements return to the Twin Cities in concert.

On Sept. 13, "Color Me Obsessed" – the only documentary flick on the band – will be showing at The Parkway Theater.

The director, Gorman Bechard, says his version features footage edited out of the original film and also provides another avenue to help one of the band's former members, Slim Dunlap, pay down medical expenses after suffering a debilitating stroke in 2012.

"What better way to celebrate and psyche out for the first Twin Cities Replacements show in 23 years, -- plus see some truly surprise guests -- as they pay tribute to Minnesota's most notorious and endearing rock bands, and our dear friend Slim," Bechard said.

There'll be plenty of merchandise available at the screening, too, including signed CDs, vinyl, original photos, signed books, DVDs and more – with all the profits going to Dunlap.

Tickets are $12 and available here.
