Pedestrian Killed By Green Line Train In St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- A pedestrian was struck and killed by a light-rail train in St. Paul Sunday morning.

According to Metro Transit, the accident happened near the Westgate Station along the Green Line.

St. Paul Police said that a female in her 40s was walking in the crosswalk to go to the station. She was struck by an eastbound train. Her identity was not immediately released.

Police said they believe she had headphones in. The warning signals were working at the station.

Service along the Green Line has been been halted temporarily, Metro Transit said. Replacement buses were running passengers between the Prospect Park and Raymond Avenue stops.

This marks the first fatality along the Green Line, which opened in June.
