Early Absentee Voting Starts Friday In Minn.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - Here in the United States, Election Day is more than six weeks away, but Minnesotans can start voting today.

For the first time, Minnesota has early absentee voting.

A new state law allows absentee voting for people who won't be home on Election Day.

As well as anyone who wants to vote early. No excuses necessary.

Democrats held a Minneapolis rally today urging voters to take advantage of the new law.

"We have the ability now not to just vote during the week, but you can vote anywhere from 7 a.m. til 6 p.m. until the election," said an organizer at the rally. "You can also vote on Saturday, as well as Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., so when I say, 'No excuse absentee voting,' I mean, 'Absolutely no excuse, you better go vote."

You can vote absentee by mail, in person, or by having someone deliver your ballot for you.

The Minneapolis City Council voted to extend hours you can vote, and that includes over the weekends.
