Charges: Hastings Man Threatens Another In Brother's Death

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 33-year-old Hastings man is accused of threatening to kill another man at a Walmart in late September who he believes killed his brother, according to charges filed in Dakota County Court.

Jeremy John Reuter was charged with one felony count of terroristic threats in connection with the Sept. 27 incident.

According to a criminal complaint, Hastings Police received a report on Oct. 3 that that a man identified as Reuter had made terroristic threats against a man identified as CB. The incident happened at the Walmart in Hastings on Sept. 27.

The complaint states CB was at the Walmart with his minor daughter and in a checkout lane when Reuter approached him and made threats that that he wanted to kill him. Reuter allegedly made a hand gesture in the form of a gun and pointed his finger at CB during the confrontation.

CB's attorney showed authorities a text message that Reuter allegedly sent to a person identified as BB, in reference to CB, saying "I don't give a (expletive) if he has your daughter I'm beating him within an inch of his life he got lucky at Walmart."

Police interviewed Reuter on Oct. 3, and he told them he had nothing to lose and said "I'll take him out," according to the complaint. Reuter said he believes that CB is responsible for his brother's murder and he got mad when he saw CB at the Walmart. Reuter admitted that he threatened to kill CB and that he positioned his hand like a gun and pointed it at CB.

If convicted, Reuter faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
