Woman Hit By Blue Line Train; Rail Service Disrupted

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A Blue Line light rail train struck a woman Thursday as she was walking through a designated crossing area.

The woman was taken to a hospital with what appear to be non-life threatening injuries. She was conscious and alert when she left the scene.

Rail service was disrupted for about 25 minutes after the incident, which occurred just before 9 a.m. Thursday at the Franklin Avenue Station.

During the disruption, buses were sent to transport passengers between the Downtown East and 38th Street stations.

The operator was placed on administrative leave, pending drug and alcohol tests. This is standard procedure for Metro Transit.

Metro Transit continues to investigate the incident.
