Missing Plane Found Crashed In Wis. Farm Field; Pilot Dead

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - A missing single-engine plane was found  in a Pierce County, Wisconsin, farm field on Saturday.

The dead body of the pilot, Richard Schweitzer, 73, of Watersmeet, Michigan, was found at the crash site.

The Cessna had gone missing on Friday, and was spotted by the Civil Air Patrol around 6 p.m. Saturday.

Pierce County Sheriff's deputies, along with the Ellsworth Fire Department and Red Wing Ambulance, found the plane in a farm field north of 130th Avenue, near 570th Street.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident.
