Hearings Over, Peterson Waits For Decision On Appeal

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The hearings are done, and now we wait for the NFL to make a decision on Adrian Peterson's appeal. Peterson wants his season-ending suspension overturned.

The league punished him after he pleaded no contest to misdemeanor reckless assault in November for hitting his 4-year-old son with a switch as a form of discipline. At an appeal hearing Thursday, the NFL's Vice President of football operations testified about a conversation he had with Peterson that Peterson secretly recorded.

Troy Vincent reportedly said Peterson would get a lesser suspension than the one issued by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Joe Tamburino is a criminal defense attorney who has represented Vikings players in the past and said Peterson could have a solid case.

"If that was a firm promise and Mr. Vincent had the authority of the NFL, specifically Roger Goodell, to make that promise then Adrian Peterson has a case. There's no doubt about it," Tamburino said.

There is no timeline for when the NFL will announce the result of Peterson's appeal.
