Mpls. Man Suspected In Over 60 Burglaries Arrested

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police arrested a 60-year-old Minneapolis man while he was burglarizing a Fantastic Sam's in Plymouth last Thursday, according to Eden Prairie police. The man is suspected in over 60 burglaries.

At 10 p.m. on Dec. 4, Plymouth police were dispatched to the Fantastic Sam's, located at 10100 6th Ave. N. There, police arrested the suspected burglar, identified as Robert Allen Pfeifer.

Eden Prairie police say the arrest is the result of a multijurisdictional investigation stemming from a string of burglaries occurring between Oct. 31, 2014 and Dec. 4, 2014.

Pfeifer may be responsible for more than 60 burglaries of businesses located in strip malls located in five counties and 13 cities across the Twin Cities metro area. He is also suspected of burglarizing The Open Door food shelf in Eagan last week.

"The primary target of the burglaries appears to be cash," Eden Prairie Police Sgt. Dave Becker said. "However, in some instances electronics such as TVs and computers were also stolen."

Becker says that it's believed that Pfeifer, who gained access to businesses by prying open their doors, stole more than $10,000 of cash in total.

"Apprehending Mr. Pfeifer came about because of 16 law enforcement agencies working in cooperation," Becker said. "The collaboration and information-sharing that has occurred over the course of the investigation was essential in locating the suspect while he burglarized another business and making the arrest."

Pfeifer is now being held in the Hennepin County Jail on a parole violation. Eden Prairie police are expected to turn in the case over to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office for consideration of charges within the next week.
