Dustin Diamond, TV's 'Screech,' Charged In Wis. Bar Stabbing

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO/AP) -- The actor famous for playing Samuel "Screech" Powers on the 90s sitcom "Saved By The Bell" was arrested Thursday after he reportedly stabbed a man at a Wisconsin bar.

Police say Dustin Diamond, 37, faces first-degree charges for recklessly endangering safety, disorderly conduct and carrying a switchblade.

It happened around 11 p.m. Thursday at a bar in Diamond's hometown of Port Washington, Wisconsin, which is about 25 miles north of Milwaukee.

Witnesses told police that Diamond stabbed another man and then left with his fiancee, according to CBS 58 in Milwaukee.

Police took the two into custody and Diamond was booked early Friday in the Ozaukee County Jail in Port Washington.

The criminal complaint says Diamond told police he accidentally stabbed a man while defending his fiancee from two men harassing her.

The victim was not seriously injured.

Diamond's fiancee also faces a disorderly conduct charge.

The man who was stabbed was treated at the hospital.

He appeared Friday afternoon in Ozaukee County court, where bail was set at $10,000.

Diamond's agent declined comment Friday. No attorney was listed in court records. It is not clear if he has been released.
