Nothing Fishy About This Record-Threatening New Year's Catch
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The story may sound a little fishy. Okay, actually it sounds incredibly fishy, but in the good way. The potentially record-breaking way.
Will Spychalla and Carlyn Salmela caught a monster sturgeon in the St. Croix River on New Year's Day.
The fish could break a state record.
The sturgeon was estimated to be 75 inches in length and weighed in at 115 pounds. The current Minnesota record is 70 inches and a little more than 94 pounds.
The sturgeon was reportedly released back through the ice, as it's not currently in season.
