Authorities To Ramp Up DWI Enforcement Over Super Bowl
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minnesota Department of Public Safety is teaming up with former Minnesota Viking Chuck Foreman to crack down on drunk driving on Super Bowl Sunday.
Authorities said in the last 10 years, DWI arrests have gone up by 24 percent during Super Bowl weekend compared to the weekend before and 18 percent compared to the weekend after. Extra patrols will be out this weekend in Minnesota's 25 most dangerous counties to limit impaired driving.
The Minnesota State Patrol said on Super Bowl Sunday leading into Monday morning, an average of 190 drivers will be arrested for DWI and at least one person will die in an alcohol-related crash. So if you're going out for the Super Bowl, plan for a sober ride home.
