Como Zoo Wants Your Help Naming Baby Orangutan

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- St. Paul's Como Zoo is showing off its newest bundle of joy, and asking for your help to give it a name.

A newborn baby orangutan is now on display in the Primate Building, and WCCO's cameras caught her while she was cuddled up on her mother's chest taking a nap.

The baby orangutan was born at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center on Jan. 7.

She doesn't have a name yet. Visitors can help the zoo pick a name by making a donation to the zoo. The three choices are Aanjay, meaning "unconquerable," Cinta, meaning "love," or Kemala, meaning "magic stone." You can make your donation to place your vote here.

Also, next weekend the zoo is holding a baby shower to celebrate all of its new babies. There will be games, crafts and opportunities to see the animals up close.

Como Zoo is partnering with Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery and asking visitors attending the President's Day weekend Baby Shower to bring in new, unused items that will in turn be donated to the Crisis Nursery.
