Superfish Software On Lenovo Brand Laptops Could Be Infected
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – As many as 16 million computers may be vulnerable to hackers.
The computers in question are PCs that were pre-loaded with the Superfish software.
The software could give cyber criminals easy access to credit card numbers and other personal data.
Superfish is a visual search software which captures images of images, or products users view online, and uses that information to create targeted ads.
The software was put on Lenovo brand laptops that were sold between September 2014 and January 2015.
The Department of Homeland Security has issued an alert to Lenovo customers urging them to remove Superfish.
