3 Gophers Finalists For Top Women's Hockey Award
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The University of Minnesota announced Thursday that three players on the women's hockey team have been named finalists for the Patty Kazmaier Award. It goes every year to the top player in women's college hockey.
The three Minnesota players in the top 10 include junior forward Hannah Brandt, sophomore forward Dani Cameranesi and senior defenseman Rachel Ramsey. The award will be unveiled at a ceremony on March 21 at the McNamara Alumni Center as part of the NCAA Women's Frozen Four weekend, hosted by the University of Minnesota.
Brandt is second in the nation with 62 points on the season, including 27 goals, which is tied for third in the country. She's second in the nation with 35 assists and was also a finalist for the award last year.
Cameranesi is fourth in the nation with 55 points, a mark that includes 21 goals, which is tied for seventh in the country. Her 34 assists ranks third nationally.
Ramsey is second in the country among defensemen in the country with 31 points on the season. That mark includes 23 assists, which is second in the country for defensemen. She also has eight goals, which is tied for third nationally at her position.
