Dubnyk Named NHL's First Star Of The Month

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – It's no secret that the turnaround to the Minnesota Wild's season started with the acquisition of goaltender Devan Dubnyk.

Sunday, he was named the NHL's First Star of the Month for February and became the first player in team history to earn leagues Player of the Month award. Dubnyk had a month to remember, leading the NHL with 11 wins. That mark included three shutouts in starting all 14 games for the Wild.

He came up big again for Minnesota Saturday night in a win at Colorado, making 33 saves in a 3-1 victory. He stood tall late as the Wild kept the puck out of the net despite being down 6-on-4 with the Avalanche on a power play and coach Patrick Roy pulling his goalie.

Saturday's win moved the Wild three points ahead of Calgary for the eighth and final playoff spot and within one point of tying Winnipeg for the No. 7 seed.
