Cottage Grove Community Pulls Together For Family Of Slain Teacher
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Friends and family worked up a sweat Saturday in honor of a popular teacher and business owner.
The Cottage Grove community organized a Zumba marathon at Shape Me Group Fitness in Roseville to raise money for the family of slain Park High School art teacher David Frigaard.
Frigaard, 46, was shot and killed in January after leaving a bar he owned in Mahtomedi, leaving behind a wife and three children.
More than 50 people turned out for the Saturday's event at the fitness center where Frigaard's wife frequently attended classes. Many more dropped off donations for the family.
Bailey Garcia, 19, is charged with second degree murder in the case. Investigators say he had been drinking in a parked car nearby before the shooting took place.
