MNsure Needs 2 More Years Of Work, State Official Says

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota's top technology official says MNsure may need another two years of work before it's on solid footing.

Office of MN.IT Services Commissioner Tom Baden also told lawmakers Wednesday he doesn't think the exchange will need more state or federal money to make necessary fixes.

Officials at the state's health exchange have stressed MNsure is in far better shape since its rocky rollout in 2013. But the exchange still needs to address back-end issues like submitting registration files to health plans.

Baden says MNsure was faced with an "impossible" timeline to set up the exchange due to delayed federal rules that came out just a few months before its scheduled launch.
